The Borough FC was built to represent Scarborough — its people, its neighbourhoods, its diversity, its ambition and its pride.

But representing a community means more than what happens on the football pitch.

Extra Time is The Borough FC's community initiative, created in partnership with the Northpine Foundation, using football as a platform to connect young people with mentorship, education, opportunity and community.

Football is where we start. Community is who we are. Opportunity is where we're going.

Across Scarborough, thousands of young people face barriers that can make it difficult to access consistent after-school opportunities.

Extra Time was created to help break down those barriers.

COST. TRANSPORTATION. ACCESS. COMPETING DEMANDS. A LACK OF CONSISTENT SUPPORT.

We bring football, mentorship, education, nutrition and opportunity together in one consistent weekly experience — creating a place where young people can play, learn, connect and grow.

A football club can do more than develop footballers.

WHAT IS
EXTRA TIME?

Extra Time is a three-year community initiative designed to support 100 Scarborough youth in Grades 6–12.

Based around a consistent hub at Centennial College, participants take part in a weekly program that combines:

FOOTBALL

Structured coaching, training and football development.

02 / IN YOUR CORNER

MENTORSHIP

Positive relationships with coaches, mentors and community leaders who can support and challenge young people beyond the pitch.

03 / IN THE CLASSROOM

EDUCATION

Study Tables focused on English and Math, aligned with the needs of participating students.

04 / FUEL TO GROW

NUTRITION

Snacks and meals where needed, helping create a supportive environment for young people to learn and participate.

05 / WHAT COMES NEXT

OPPORTUNITY

Summer camps, elite camp and program placements, school clinics and leadership opportunities that introduce young people to new experiences and pathways.

We don't want young people to simply participate.

Young people can take on leadership opportunities through The Borough FC matchdays and community activities, gaining experience, responsibility and confidence.

Over time, the young person who once needed someone in their corner can become that person for somebody else.
